LaPosha, Starks Compete in Columbia Cougar Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Stephens College golf team opened up their fall schedule at the two-day Columbia Cougar Classic hosted by Columbia College on Monday and Tuesday. The Stars only had two players in the Classic, sophomore Ellie LaPosha and freshman Skylar Starks.

LaPosha led the two on both days. She sat in 32nd place out of 40 after 18 holes as she shot a 107. On day two, she slightly favored the front nine as she shot a 55 with a par and two bogeys. On the back nine, she finished with a 57 score, again with a par and two bogeys. She ended the day with a 112, bumping her in to 34th place.

Starks played even on the front and back nine day one, shooting 62 on both rounds to start out in 37th place. On day two, she slightly favored the back nine as she shot 64 with a bogey and two double bogeys. On the front nine, she picked up two bogeys and a double bogey to score 66. She stayed consistent in her placing, closing out the Classic in 37th place.

The Stars close out their short fall season starting next Monday at the William Woods University Fall Invitational in Fulton, Mo. Tee-off is set for 9 a.m. at the Tanglewood Golf Course.
