COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Stephens College volleyball team hosted Cottey College for an exhibition match to let the team go deeper on the roster. The Stars dropped the match in five, winning sets one and four.

The Stars came out hot in set one, jumping on an early 9-2 lead. The team held a healthy lead for most of the set and grabbed a 25-18 win to start the match, but Cottey went on to take a 2-1 lead after winning sets two and three, 25-15 and 25-18.

The Stars maintained the lead throughout most of set four despite Cottey bringing the score within one four times late in the set. On set point, Shay Wilkerson found the open spot on her swing to end the set 25-23 and keep the Star's hopes alive.

Cottey came out with a vengeance in the decision set, ready to end the match. They ran a 7-0 rally to start the set before Darby Jones put down a kill to halt their streak. The Stars were only able to score three more in the set, ending the match with a 15-4 set five score.

Jones and Wilkerson led the attack with 13 kills apiece. Rose Carter added nine while Bri Mays put down eight.

Setter Shelby Wood assisted 38 kills and recorded 13 digs. Libero Suhey Campos finished with a match high 27 digs.
