Stars Cross Country Opens Season with Fourth Place Finish

QUINCY, Ill. – The Stephens College cross country team opened the 2017 season in the Great River Opener hosted by Quincy University on Friday evening. The Stars, led by fourth year head coach Nancy Yaeger, placed fourth at the 4K meet.

Senior Brittany Stanfield led the Stars, placing 10th out of 25 finishers with an 18:16 time.

Sierra Green placed 15th with a 19:30 time, followed by Alex Massie-McDowell in 20th (20:08).

Rounding out the team was first-time runner Alexus Dieckmann (24th/22:28) and Lyubov Sheremeta (25th/22:51).

The Stars next compete in the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin, Mo. on September 16 at 8 a.m. The race, hosted by Missouri Southern State University, will be held at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course
