COLUMBIA, Mo. – LaShonda Black of Chicago, Illinois, signed her letter of intent to play basketball at Stephens College for her final two years of eligibility as a shooting guard.

"LaShonda is a quality student-athlete," stated head coach Ray Fron. "I think she is going to fit in well with our group as we look to go a little up-tempo. She's got a very high IQ and just a great personality. I think her skills and what she is going to bring to the team are going to fit in really nice."

Black most recently played for Kennedy King College for Coach Shajaunna Jordan. She made 25 starts in 25 appearances and averaged 11.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. She finished the 2016-17 season with 15 double-digit outings including a season high 23-point performance versus Olive-Harvey.

Black played her freshman campaign for Kishwaukee College and made 14 starts in 26 games.

Black is also dominant in the classroom as she was tabbed to the All-Academic Team her freshman and sophomore year, as well as earning a spot on the Dean's List both years.

Black, the daughter of Lashonda Adams, plans to major in psychology and English at Stephens.
