FULTON, Mo. – Aleesa Wolf (SR/Moberly, Mo.) accounted for two of the Stephens College tennis team's three points in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to NCAA Division III Westminster College. The loss brings the Stars to 0-2 on the season.
The Stars opened up the day with two doubles wins, taking a 2-1 lead over WC. The Jada Kyle (JR/Jackson, Tenn.) and Eden Crane (FR/Columbia, Mo.) duo in the number one doubles and the Allex Looper (FR/Beaver, Okla.) and Wolf duo in the number two doubles each defeated their opponent 8-2. Margaret Thomas (SR/Leawood, Kan.) and Kerri Kircher (SR/Richmond, Ind.) in the number three doubles lost 8-1.
The Stars momentum carried into singles play for Wolf and Looper. Wolf was the solo Stars' winner in the number four spot, 7-5 and 6-3. Looper played a tight match in the number three spot and the result could have gone either way. After taking set one from Westminster 6-3, WC came back to sweep set two 6-1. The tiebreaker round ended with Westminster winning 16-14 after a long back-and-forth battle.
The Stars take one day off before traveling to NCAA Division III Greenville College. The April 13 match begins at 4:00 pm.
