The Sports Information Office at Stephens College acts as the primary outlet for information regarding the college's eight varsity intercollegiate athletic programs. The No. 1 goal is to best serve the needs of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, fans and media members. Sports Information manages the official athletics website StephensStars.com and also maintains all athletic social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube).
Other responsibilities include: providing game-day management and statistical services at all home games and select away contests, compiling historical records for each team, nominating student-athletes for academic and athletic awards, and distributing information to celebrate the achievements of coaches, staff, and student-athletes on the field, in the classroom and around the community. The sports information staff also works closely with the American Midwest Conference (AMC), National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and various sports organizations.
Covering the Stars
Stephens College Sports Information is always interested in helping members of the media in their coverage of the Stars' athletic programs. Those that wish to be included on the primary media contact list will receive regular news releases, game previews, game recaps, box scores and other notes of interest. Please contact SID Alysha Hodge if you would like to be added to the distribution list.
The sports information office will facilitate interview requests to help assist in the media coverage of Stephens College athletics. All interview requests for the Athletics Director, coaches and student-athletes must first come through SID Alysha Hodge. We will work with you to set up a date and time that is suitable for all parties, while scheduling around class and practice schedules.
On gamedays, select players and the head coach will be available for interviews following a 5-10 minute cool-down period.
Home and cell phone numbers for players will not be provided and players have been instructed not to accept calls from media without prior notice from the sports information office.
A phone line will be made available at Stephens athletic events for visiting radio stations to broadcast SC home games. Credentials for radio should be requested at least one week prior to each game.
Each semester, the Sports Information Office invites students from Stephens College, University of Missouri and Columbia College to assist with office hours and gameday operations.
If you are interested in becoming a student assistant for the Stephens College Sports Information Office, please send a resume and a short cover letter explaining your interest in sports information to Alysha Hodge. A background in the area(s) of graphic design, journalism or sports management is preferred, but not required.
